Learning a tongue-twister to help share the Gospel
Missionary Carolyn Rowan is studying culture and language and enjoying making new friends.
"Practically every day of the week I am doing something with local friends," wrote Carolyn. "I have been attending an local church. … I have also been going to a weekly Bible study for young adults. It has been really fun getting to know believers and talking with them about what the Lord is doing in our lives."
Carolyn is also helping as a native speaker with two English classes and "hanging" with these new friends also. She asks prayer for many of the friends she is making. "They are good people and devoted to their beliefs," she wrote, "but they need to know the way, the truth and the life."
Carolyn learned a new phrase recently and is hoping she can find a way to use it in everyday conversation. She says that it is Little Red Riding Hood with a twist.
"Kok, kuku kaki kakek kaku kaku" means, "Grandfather, what strong toenails you have." Not a very useful phrase but certainly fun to say. Pray for Carolyn as she studies culture and language to increase her ability to function in the country. She is hoping to eventually be ready to learn the specific culture and language of a tribal group to help in a church planting ministry.
