Lessons nearing resurrection

In less than two weeks the Akolets will hear the conclusion of evangelistic Bible teaching and the inevitable opposition has been making threats to disrupt the teaching.

A group who consider themselves religious have discussed how the “missionaries are pulling people away” from their religion and “trying to start something new.”

Some have displayed a lot of anger and according to reports discussed burning the makeshift building where the people gather for teaching.

“While this is very likely an idle threat,” Julie Martin wrote, “please pray that in spite of the opposition … those whom God is drawing would continue to come and be saved.”

Two women – Rose and Petra – who had been coming faithfully to the teaching were recently involved in an “outburst” against the teaching and seemed to be growing hardened.

Then Rose suddenly started showing up early for each day's Bible lesson, and even attended the nightly read-through of the next day's lesson – “an eagerness we'd never seen in her,” Julie wrote.

“She came to see me Friday evening and we talked for about 45 minutes. She said how much this teaching means to her and how she'd sort of stopped coming for a while, but she realizes now how much she needs to hear this for herself and understand how God is going to rescue her.

“Petra has also continued to come, but we don't really know where she's at – from our perspective she still seems hardened.”

Please pray that these two women will understand the truth of God’s Word and their need for salvation through Christ alone.
