Lessons start for Mwinikas
A group of Mwinika people heard their first evangelistic Bible lesson this week.
"We have been preparing for this day for a long time and we thank the Lord that it has finally come," wrote Phil and Elin Henderson. "Praise the Lord that the first lesson is complete and seemed to go well."
A small group attended the teaching -- not nearly as many as the Hendersons had hoped and prayed for.
The first lesson happened to coincide with a big ceremony in the community that kept many people from attending.
One elderly man stood at the end of the meeting and said, "Do you remember the day that Phil gave a party at his house? Do you remember how many people attended? It was a lot of people that came to eat bread and drink juice at his house.
"We who are here today need to go and tell our neighbors and family to come to the teaching. This is important. If they were there eating his food that day they should be here listening to what he says today."
"Please pray that those who attended the first lesson will be faithful to attend all the lessons -- about 69 more," the Hendersons wrote. "Pray also that many of the people who didn’t come will begin attending."
