Lorons learning literacy
Joel, Daniel and several other Loron Bible teachers are teaching and encouraging believers in eight villages in the Ivory Coast. Joel is also teaching evangelistic Bible lessons to various groups in the area.
Missionaries Paul and Marina Briggs, who live in Burkina Faso due to unrest in Ivory Coast, travel to Ivory Coast whenever possible to disciple and help Loron believers.
Recently they teamed up with Lorons in one village to install a pump to provide water to the entire community.
They are also helping and encouraging Loron literacy teachers as they begin classes in various villages. Many Lorons are learning to read and write their language.
In one village a local pastor is teaching in the French language because of the mixture of ethnic groups living there. He forbade his members to attend literacy classes because he feared that the missionaries wanted to steal his members.
Leaders from a church in the north visited his village to explain that the purpose for teaching literacy is to help Lorons to read their language to enable them to better understand God's Word. When he heard the explanation, he dropped his opposition to the classes and allowed his members to attend.
Donald, a young Loron believer, has decided to attend a Bible school, run by Africans, four hours away from his village. Pray for him as he studies in the French language and pray also that he will be a blessing to his fellow students.
Pray for Paul and Marina as they disciple and help Loron believers. Pray also that those learning to read and write will grow in their understanding of God's Word and will teach others.
