Many expected for dedication

A large crowd – “much larger than originally thought” – is expected for the Embera Bible dedication to be held Aug. 13 in Panama.

Two Embera believers are making a final promotional trip to several villages which will bring the total number of villages contacted to around 40.

“I have heard from several Embera believers that the people are excited and anxious to finally receive the Scriptures,” wrote missionary Doug Schermerhorn. “The response has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The men who have been going from village to village with the message have been greatly encouraged by the response and by the way God has undertaken for them.

Doug has received a copy of the Bible “and it exceeds my expectation. The Embera people will be blessed with a very beautiful Bible and more importantly will soon have God’s Word in their hands,” he wrote.

An audio recording of the Embera New Testament will soon be finished. On dedication day “before and after the Scripture dedication service, we would like to have it playing in the meeting hall so people can come to listen as they are able and want to. Praise the Lord that we will now have another avenue of getting God’s Word to the Embera people,” Doug wrote.

Doug, who is currently on home assignment, plans to return to Panama on July 31 to help with the final preparations for the dedication. He also plans to teach a short seminar on prophesy that some believers have requested.

“Please pray for the preparations for the dedication service and that through it many Emberas will seek our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Doug wrote.
