Ministries help flood victims
Money given to New Tribes Mission to alleviate some of the losses suffered during the devastating floods that hit the Philippines in September has been dispersed among several organizations helping in the relief effort.
Since the majority of NTM missionaries in the Philippines are in remote jungle areas and not in Manila where the bulk of the flood damage was located, NTM field leaders decided that money given by supporters -- about $28,000 -- could be passed on to other ministries who were better equipped to meet the needs.
The largest portion of the relief funds was given to Action International, an organization that ministers primarily to street people. Their involvement in relief work has opened a multitude of doors to ministry. They used the money to provide emergency food and water and they continue to assist those who had terrible losses.
Another of the organizations that received some of the funds was The Bible League. They lost 80,000 Bibles and study aids from the flooding.
New Tribes missionaries in the Philippines gave almost $7,000 to assist NTM missionary families and Filipino staff members recover from their losses.
NTM Philippine leaders "feel that the need of funds has been sufficiently met and no more funds are needed for further flood relief at this time."
Please pray that those who have been ministered to in the past few months will see that the love of Christ has directed people to respond, and pray that hearts will be open to receive the Gospel.
