Missionaries eager to join God's Work
Bosco, a Nakanai believer in Papua New Guinea, taught at two other Nakanai villages and six men and women trusted Christ as their Savior.
"God is already at work here and we are so privileged to be able to join Him in it," wrote missionary Benjamin Buckner.
Ben and his wife, Nikki, are studying the culture and language of the Nakanais in anticipation of helping to disciple the few believers in the tribe as well as teach evangelistic Bible lessons to others.
"Culture and language acquisition is a huge and daunting task but has been going well," wrote Ben, "and I think I can even say it’s been fun."
Ben and Nikki have been getting out with the people and joining them in their activities, such as spear-fishing on the reef, harvesting cacao pods or digging for wild bird eggs.
Their four children help in learning the Nakanai culture and language as they interact with the village children. Eight-year-old Alyssa is doing well in Melanesian Pidgin and is already learning some Nakanai words. Her younger siblings, while not as advanced as she is, are slowly getting the language as they play with the village children.
Pray for wisdom for Ben and Nikki in encouraging and equipping the Nakanai believers in their task of reaching others with the Gospel. Pray also for those men who have stepped out in faith to teach their neighbors even though they have had very little training.
