Missionaries return to Simbas
Missionaries Bill and Kathleen Mann plan to arrive back in Bolivia this week and continue their ministry among the Simba people.
Last week they packed their belongings and said good-bye to their friends in Canada after a year of home assignment.
After settling back into their home in Bolivia, the Manns will begin preparing the first eight chapters of Romans for a final check to be completed in mid-March. Then they'll work on the translation of chapters 9-16 for checking in July.
When the final translation check is finished, Bill will record Bible lessons from the book of Romans for a radio station in Santa Cruz which broadcasts in the Simba language.
Bill and Kathleen, along with their co-worker Jack Russell, gave away several solar-powered radios fix-tuned to the station that broadcasts the lessons. Many Simba believers live in the community and the missionary team trusts that the radios will get a lot of use.
Bill also intends to teach the Simba church leaders and their wives from the book of Romans next summer.
"Romans is the kind of book that when teaching it to tribal folks," Bill wrote, "you really need continuity, as the lessons build on each other. So please pray for us that the Lord helps our time to be very productive. The Lord has seen fit to call many precious Simbas to Himself and it is our heart to keep giving them what they need to be able to grow strong in their faith and effectively carry on the work themselves, namely God's Word and good foundational teaching."
