New believers growing

An evangelistic Bible study, a Bible study for new believers and a study for the new church are going well among the Guarijio people of Mexico, and missionaries are getting ready for future teaching.

The evangelistic Bible study is teaching about creation in a village about a 20-minute four-wheeler-ride from where Terry Reed and the others on the missionary team are living.

“A group of 10 or so shows up,” Terry wrote. “It is good to see their interest, and to be opening the door to the truth for more people.”

Terry’s wife, Renee, and Machelle Bender have begun a study for the few Guarijio women who are believers. “They are trying to lay a foundation for their new position in Christ,” Terry wrote.

Meanwhile, the Reeds have started teaching Acts in their home each Sunday to more than 20 Guarijios. “People usually show up around 10 a.m. and are here until about 2 or so. It has been good to see people’s interest, and to see some of them really grasping truth,” Terry wrote.

Dennis Bender, Machelle’s husband, and Terry are seeking God’s direction on a study with a couple of the believing men who show potential as church leaders.

And Terry has been translating Romans.

Chapters 1-8 have been checked to see how well the Guarijios understand them. “Now they are ready to be ‘back-translated’ to English so the consultant can check them for content, leaps of logic. Once that is completed we can schedule a check of those chapters.”

Terry has also been working on a rough draft of chapters 9-16, which he hopes to complete soon after chapters 1-8 are translated back to English.

“From there we will venture into either Ephesians or Galatians. God is keeping us busy, but we are grateful for the progress we have been seeing,” Terry wrote.

Pray for the continued growth of Guarijio believers, and that God will raise up leaders among the Guarijios who can share the work and then carry it forward to other Guarijios and neighboring people groups.
