Not enough

“I want to hear all of this teaching.  I want to get it all,” Tati, one of the older Patpatar men, told Aaron Luse recently.

He was talking about the Firm Foundations Bible lessons he has been coming to hear.  He went on, “I am not a teenager anymore.  I need to hear the truth of God’s Word before …”

As Tati’s voice trailed off, Aaron knew that the thought of dying was on his mind. Tati hesitated and then continued, “I used to think that God was happy with me because of all the good that I have done.  But it is not so, now I see I am not enough.  I need to hear this teaching so I can understand the road that God has made so I can be accepted by Him.”

When he heard these words, Aaron knew that God was opening Tati’s heart with the desire to know the truth. Traditional Patpatar culture often skews and corrupts the truth about God and man’s position before Him. The complex mix of custom and religion can make the Gospel very difficult to grasp.

Aaron has been teaching Firm Foundations Bible lessons to small groups in three different locations twice each week. They have completed the foundational Old Testament truths and are now teaching the New Testament books about Jesus’ life on earth.

Aaron plans that at about Easter time, he will be teaching the death and resurrection of Jesus. Please pray for Tati and for the Patpatar people as they continue to hear the truth. Pray that as they come to realize that, just as all people everywhere, they are “not enough.” Pray that God will draw their hearts to the truth of the Gospel and they will embrace Jesus to be enough on their behalf.

You can share the same missionary-tested Firm Foundations Bible lessons.
