Okweb learns through injury

Okweb, a strong Siawi believer, is attempting to live out his Christian principles in spite of the demands of tribal culture.

Okweb returned to his translation duties and shared with missionary Linda Krieg that God is working all things for good. Having been told that Okweb worked sorcery on a young man to make him sick, some men attacked and wounded him causing a horrific injury to his hand – but he sees that God is allowing him to use his injury and pain to witness to others.

Okweb says that when he is unable to sleep or rest, he sits and talks with whoever is in the house about things of the Lord and what God is teaching him through this experience. In the night, he reads his Bible and thinks on things of the Lord.

The unbelievers who were a part of this fight have demanded that Okweb pay a fine for working sorcery on a young man from their village. Okweb decided that he should pay the fine even though he did not work sorcery to satisfy the tribal demands.

“The Lord has taught me a lot of lessons, through this hand,” Okweb told Linda. “I have been sharing them with my family and anyone who comes to see me.”

Pray that Okweb’s hand will heal and that he will be able to continue to work with Linda on the Siawi translation.
