Out of the classroom

Two new missionaries in Senegal are learning culture and language in a new way.

Jennifer Rabe, who grew up in Senegal, and Heather Gordy, who is experiencing Senegal for the first time, are living with two Senegalese host families.

These families will help the missionaries adjust to living in Senegal and learn the national language -- French -- more effectively than merely taking university classes.

The two families are delighted to be able to help in this way and warmly welcomed the ladies into their homes and their lives.

Please pray for the times of adjustment for the missionaries and their host families. There are times when living with someone from an entirely different culture and language can be uncomfortable and confusing. Pray that they will work through these issues and develop close, lifelong relationships.

Jennifer and Heather are immersing themselves in Senegalese culture and language in order to equip themselves for effective tribal ministries.

Jennifer writes, "Praise [the Lord] that I'm finally here in Senegal. … Pray for me as I continue to learn French and the Senegalese culture."

Pray for Heather and Jennifer and that they will quickly learn the culture and language. Praise God with us for the host families and for their willingness to help equip missionaries for church-planting ministry.
