Out of their comfort zone

Once there was a middle-aged couple, living happily in a quaint little neighborhood where they had lived for more than two decades.

He had a good job and was good at it too. After all, he was the one who had worked in this shop longer than the rest. All of the new guys looked up to him and respected him for his many years of experience.

Whenever she would go to the local store or post office, she knew the names of almost everyone she passed along the way and friendly greetings were exchanged. Often she could be found sharing stories about kids with a good friend in the grocery aisle.

This couple had raised their children in this place they call home. Now, grown and gone, their adult-kids were all in various stages of living life on their own. The bedrooms upstairs were empty. Gone were their stomping feet and messy rooms. It was definitely quieter now, but this couple was happy and content and comfortable here in their “empty nest” where good memories flooded from every corner. They were doing just fine.

Then one day, without any warning, God asked this happy, comfortable and content couple to do something shocking. He asked them to leave! To move far away from home and friends and everything they were familiar with. To serve Him somewhere that was hot, dirty and maybe even risky. Some place foreign and difficult. He was asking them just to trust Him and obey.

The rest of the story hasn’t been written yet. The Trostruds have been asked by NTM leaders in Papua New Guinea to serve in the Government Representative position. The job needs to be filled by September so the Trostruds will move to Port Moresby this month. Please pray for their move and adjustment to their new home and ministry.

The Trostruds add, “Pray for us as this is a huge move on our part, way out of our comfort zone, but God likes to use us most when we have to rely on Him.”
