Papayas, cold showers, tears and worship

Missionaries Chad and Janeene Mankins are preparing to leave the Tobo village where they live for home assignment in the USA. Their teammates, Jason and Nisae Williamson, have just returned to Papua New Guinea.

"We are keeping busy as we begin the process of transition," wrote Chad, "with Williamsons taking the on-site ministry baton from us for much of 2011."

Along with adjusting to their new ministry roles, Nisae has compiled a list of events that have marked their re-adjustment to Papua New Guinea:

  • They are enjoying papayas once again

  • The kids have found a lizard egg and are awaiting its hatching.

  • They are getting used to cold showers.

  • Nisae has made granola, baguettes, tortillas and bread all from scratch.

  • There have been no cheeseburgers from McDonalds.

And on a more serious note:

  • Jason is currently teaching through Ephesians with Chad.

  • Nisae has cried and prayed with a Tobo sister in Christ.

  • The family was privileged to worship with the new Tobo believers.

  • Nisae has learned 12 more Tobo words.

  • They have cried out to the Lord for wisdom and direction for their ministry and seen answered prayer for protection, provision and safety.

Pray for Jason and Nisae as they carry on the ministry alone while their partners are gone. Pray also for Jason as he disciples and shepherds the Tobo believers and for Nisae as she continues to learn the culture and language of the Tobo people so that she can disciple the Tobo ladies.
