Picture book helps Mengen believers
Mengen believers in Papua New Guinea continue to share the Gospel.
Missionary Lourens Laureti was delighted to find the believers using a witnessing tool given to them last year. In September the Mengen believers received a book containing key pictures and captions of the evangelistic Bible lessons that were taught to the people.
"Our desire is to see these books used as a witnessing tool for the believers, helping them to explain God’s attributes, man’s sin, and our need of a Savior to their unsaved family and friends," wrote missionary Rebecca Preheim.
"Recently I visited a friend of mine who was very sick and had not left his home for the last month," wrote Lourens. "As I came into his house I saw he had the little picture book we gave him."
Though the man cannot read he has taken the book and shared it with his kids so that they too can share the Bible stories from start to finish.
While Lourens was visiting the family, the man’s 6-year-old son sat with the little book and shared the truth perfectly. When Laurens asked if the young boy had trusted Christ as his Savior, both his parents gave a resounding "Yes."
"They told me that he knows his sins are forgiven due to the death of Jesus on the cross," Lourens wrote. "I could not stop smiling and am very excited about the next generation of believers in the Mengen tribe."
Pray for the Mengen believers to continue to share the Gospel with others. Pray also for the missionary team as they encourage the believers in their walk with the Lord.
