Responding to a trial

Every Sunday, missionaries David and Shari Ogg and Lori Morley worship with the Simbari believers in Papua New Guinea.

On Sunday, Feb.1, God used a real life example to connect to the message presented to the Simbaris.

The Simbaris just heard about Paul and Silas preaching the Gospel in prison.

"God loved that jailer so much that he sent Paul and Silas inside that prison in order that he and his family should know Christ," Lori wrote. "We don't always see the purpose in our trials, but God has a purpose nonetheless. "

When David and Shari returned home, they discovered their house was robbed during their time of worship.

David informed the Simbaris about what happened and they responded by taking off after the thieves. Some of the Ogg's belongings were recovered, but the thieves still escaped.

"We know who all four of the thieves are so it's just a matter of how to bring them to justice," Lori wrote.

After the situation calmed down, a large crowd gathered around David and Shari. Simbari believers and unbelievers followed the example of Paul and Silas -- singing and praying with the missionaries in the time of trial.

"Perhaps this was God's object lesson about trials to the Simbari people," Lori wrote. "Our prayer is that God would use this trial to draw more Simbaris, and even the thieves themselves, to Christ."
