School merger unsettling

Recently the school for missionaries' children in eastern Brazil was visited by a New Tribes Mission team that offers advice and support to overseas mission schools.

The school is considering merging with another mission school and their mission consulting team also visited.

One of the NTM team members held a seminar for parents and teachers to help them understand the ramifications of the possible transition. The teams were at the school for a week and met with numerous staff families to obtain a picture of things that missionary families and teachers struggle with.

Several former principals along with the current principal, Andy Templeton, met with both mission teams to discuss improvements in curriculum and the struggles some of the families are having with the prospect of a change.

"It was very good for us to have an outside perspective," wrote Andy, "as we do our best to provide an excellent education for our MKs. I felt it was an encouraging time as it reminded us we are not alone in many of these struggles. It gave us new insights into how we can improve our school and grow our teachers professionally.

Pray for the teachers, parents and students as they face transitions in the coming days.
