Seeing the difference

Life can be weary for missionaries on hot Guinea days, with no rewards, no “thank you,” and no rest, but “then God gives us a day where we can see a difference we’ve made and it’s a wonderful thing,” wrote Casey Cretsinger.

Last week brought one of those days – encouragement in the form of a little boy who is alive against all odds.

When the boy was brought to Casey his malaria had become so severe that he was convulsing and his eyes were rolled back in his head.

Casey looked at the boy and didn’t think he’d make it through the day. A quick trip to an ill-equipped “hospital” wasn’t expected to remedy his condition, but the father was thankful that his son could even see a doctor and get needed medicine.

Casey and her husband, Steve, checked on the boy a few times during the week and made sure the medical bills were being taken care of.

Last Thursday, the father and son came to the Cretsingers’ house to let them know that the boy had been released and is on his way to a full recovery.

“I told the father that I had asked many people back in the USA to be praying,” Casey wrote, “and I wanted to take a picture so that they could be reminded of God’s faithfulness to hear our prayers.”

Thank the Lord for answered prayer and continue to pray for the Cretsingers to have strength and wisdom for their ministry.
