'She is doing a truly difficult work'
An e-mail that missionary Linda Krieg received last week from her granddaughter prompted a reply from a Siawi believer.
The e-mail asked if Linda would be celebrating her next birthday in the USA with her family and telling her how much she is missed.
Nokee was with Linda when the e-mail arrived, so she read that portion to him. Later, he asked if he could write to her children. Not knowing what he had in mind, Linda assured him she would translate it into English and send it to them. Later, he brought her this letter.
“Your mother, Linda, God designated and spoke and sent to us. Now, by God’s great strength, she is doing a truly difficult work. She is very close to finishing it. Linda’s work is translating God’s true Talk into our language so that we will have the Bible. She is helping us, so that we will have God’s true Talk in our language so we can see and understand it.
“Now is the time we are doing the last work. Therefore we have great joy about her work. The basis of that joy isn’t because of Linda, and it isn’t because of us. God himself is the reason for Linda’s working strongly.
“For many years, and many months, and many weeks, I have been helping your mother – for 20 years. God gave me that work and continues to give it to me. Therefore I am helping her ... with the dishwashing work and the various jobs of taking care of the house.
“My last talk is like this. Her grandchildren have a big desire to be together with Linda but they aren’t able to do it. That’s OK, you just be patient and wait. The time for her finishing her work is very near. Thank you very much, that your grandmother is here doing this work. I wish I could see you two children of Linda’s, and you, her grandchildren too, but I can’t. There isn’t any way for me to do it. But there is a time to see you. I will see you in Heaven.
“My talk is finished now. Good day to you! Jesus got us from our sin and brought us and put us in safety, therefore it is a wonderful day.”
Linda and the Siawi translation team just finished the last epistle to be translated into the Siawi language. Only the books of Matthew and John remain for the Siawis to have a complete New Testament.
“Without Nokee,” Linda writes, “I could not have continued to serve in Siawi as I have, sometimes without co-workers. ... He has been a vital part of allowing me to continue, as well as being a major partner on the Siawi Translation team.”
