Siars seeing world differently

Chris Lujan knows the feeling.

He likens it to the time when a misstep could have sent him falling off a 7-inch diameter log that spanned a 20-foot gully. Feelings of fear and apprehension are aroused – especially when you’re doing it at night with the aid of a flashlight. Actually, he needed a helping hand to cross that bridge.

“Well, this is exactly where many of our Siar friends are at right now,” he wrote. “They are starting to realize that the footing or foundations of their lives is not so firm and sure as they thought.”

God’s Word is helping them to view life in a different light.

Last week, the Siars heard lessons about Creation and gained more understanding of the Creator. This week they will be learning about Adam and Eve’s creation and disobedience.

“We have just heard for the very first time … what the image of God really is,” said Hotli.

“We have heard so many lies over the years and this is the first time that I have heard the truth. It is great,” said Nelson.

The Siars are beginning to apply what they are learning to the events around them.

“When I went to the garden today, I wanted to be afraid of the bush spirits,” said Tintor, “but then I remembered that they are not real and are just a lie.”

“Last night, I helped a lady give birth and I was reminded that God has made that baby in His image and how He created our bodies to carry a baby and deliver them,” said Linda. “I was just thinking about God and how He made us.”

As Chris remembered his feelings of uncertainty and anxiety when faced with crossing that gully and needed someone to help him across, he is now the one holding their hands to stabilize them and lead them through their time of fear and apprehension.

“Pray that we would be discerning and sensitive to where they are,” Chris wrote, “and that we would be loving as we teach through God’s Word. Please also pray that they would continue to find out who God really is and that they would believe in Him and His Word."
