Simba Bible translator needs healthy change
After a short home assignment in Canada, missionary Bill Mann will soon return to Bolivia and is looking forward to resuming the work of translating the Simba New Testament with his Simba co-worker, Julio.
With about one-fourth of the New Testament completed, the team will next translate 1 Corinthians.
Julio has worked with the missionaries since 2006 to translate and record the Simba Scriptures and Bible lessons. He moved to the city after Bill and Kathleen Mann moved there so his two sons could attend high school. Since that time, he has worked as a night watchman for the missionary training center, and worked with the Manns in the afternoons.
Julio is a very dedicated worker who, despite having almost no education, taught himself to read. Now he is able to read and record the lessons Bill has prepared for radio broadcast.
Julio’s passion to know the Lord better and to teach his people governs his time. He is a gifted teacher and he purposely schedules all his vacations to correspond with Simba conferences, so he can attend and teach his people.
Recently, Julio has been struggling with health issues and the doctor has recommended he find a day job. The Manns would like to see him working part-time at the training center doing a daytime maintenance job that would enable him to double his time working on the Simba translation.
Please pray that God will grant Julio the strength to continue his ministries. Pray too that the Simba New Testament translation can move ahead at a steady pace so that the Simba people can one day have the competed New Testament.
