Small church takes on big task
Simba believers from several communities in Bolivia are coming together Thursday through Sunday for a conference.
The host church expects upwards of 80 people to attend.
"Being able to put on a conference is a considerable undertaking for such a small church and the believers will really need to work together," wrote missionaries Bill and Kathleen Mann.
"This has been a difficult year all around and many of the believers are divided and hurting. Still it is encouraging that they want to go ahead with the conference, despite their issues."
Bill has been asked to teach along with three tribal teachers -- Julio, Felix and Arturo.
The Manns have been busily preparing materials for the conference. Kathleen has just finished editing and recording lessons from Romans to use with hand-cranked MP3 players.
They have also been recording the Gospel of Mark in the Simba language, which they would like to offer along with newly printed books of Mark.
"We’ve formatted these books with larger font and pictures, for the many Simba adults who have difficulty reading," the Manns wrote.
"While we are happy to be able to participate, our main prayer is for God to do a genuine work of reconciliation in the hearts of the believers."
