Stressing the importance of literacy

Church planting and literacy consultants Jerry and Joyce McDaniels are preparing to travel to Mexico.

They plan to team up with literacy co-worker, Wendy Rees in order to train 15 Mexican tribal missionary candidates on how to create literacy programs for their tribes.

The training includes instruction on technicalities such as analyzing grammar and how to choose the best syllables to introduce first in primers.

"We also desire to share with the students our passion for how important literacy is to the spiritual growth of tribal churches," Joyce wrote.

After the training courses are complete, the McDaniels will stay a few more days in Mexico to work with consultants and tribal missionaries.

This work will include looking at printed materials in the tribal languages and helping their literacy programs improve.

Please pray for the McDaniels while they are in Mexico as they work with the tribal people who are eager to bring God's Word to their people through literacy.
