'That is so true'
Rindilav and her husband listened carefully as Lori Morley read to them from Ephesians 2:8-9 in their own language:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
By the time Lori got done, the two new Simbari believers were beaming.
"Oh, true," they said. "That is so true."
Another religious group has constantly told the couple that they need to follow the Law to be accepted by God, so it was a joy to hear God’s Word communicate so clearly what they believed.
Rindilav and her husband were helping Lori do a comprehension check of the translation of Ephesians when they came to those verses.
"As I read the scripture portions to them and they tell it back to me, I am able to ascertain how much they are understanding from the Simbari text," Lori wrote.
"Not only are we finishing up the book of Ephesians but my co-worker, David Ogg, is also making fast progress as he does the preliminary drafts of the Simbari Bible translation," Lori wrote. "He has finished the preliminary drafts of 1 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, Titus and 1 Thessalonians.
"Granted, the preliminary drafts only comprise about one quarter of the work required to complete a book but it also requires a lot of time and I hope that we will be able to progress quickly on the subsequent steps of the translation process."
"What a wonderful privilege it is for me to be involved in the job of translating the Bible into the Simbari language," Lori wrote.
