The student is teacher
When Vicente applied to NTM’s Bible institute in Chihuahua, Mexico, no one realized how much God would use him.
Vicente is a young man from Mexico’s Guarijio people group. In his village, he had helped missionaries learn his language, and he had come to know Christ.
“When we get this type of application,” wrote Virgil Holt, who until recently ministered at the Bible school, “we wonder … if they would be better off studying with the missionaries in their native language.”
But the school admitted Vicente, and Virgil is glad they did.
“Vicente not only excelled in the curriculum, he did it while translating Galatians to his own language,” Virgil wrote.
And that’s just the beginning of what God is doing.
Missionaries John and Linda Steinbacher, who used to work in a Guarijio village, are now working among Guarijios in Chihuahua. And Vicente is taking a key role in that.
“Vicente was thrilled with the chance to teach someone in his own language,” wrote the Steinbachers, adding that he is a gifted teacher. Last week, Vicente presented lessons on the burial, death and resurrection of Christ, which are the final lessons in the evangelistic Bible lesson series.
Pray that many respond by placing their faith in Christ, and that Vicente is encouraged and emboldened as Christ’s ambassador of salvation.
