Three Mengens teach in church service

Sunday was a special day for missionaries among the Mengen people of Papua New Guinea.

Three Mengen men taught in the morning church service.

"It was so wonderful to see them standing … and reading the lesson clearly in front of at least 40 people," wrote Rebecca Preheim.

"What a huge step for them to begin to take leadership roles in front of their friends and family. All three of them did very well and it was such a joy to see these guys who once lived in spiritual darkness begin to share the light of Christ with others."

Last week the missionaries began meetings for believers. Though a few unbelievers attended, the teaching has emphasized spiritual truths and God’s promises for the new believer.

"We are so excited to be able to begin to ground the new Mengen church in God’s Word. … It is neat to see them catch a hold of the fact they are eternally secure in God’s hand and nothing can separate them from His love," Rebecca wrote.

Please pray that in the "face of many challenges and trials … they would stand strong and would look to their Heavenly Father for wisdom each and every day."
