When does ministry begin?

Tim and Kat Warner are preparing to join the team of missionaries ministering to the Mwinika people in Mozambique.

After four years of preparation in the USA -- including studies in teaching cross culturally, linguistics and chronological Bible teaching -- they arrived in Mozambique and began yet another phase of preparation.

Tim and Kat are currently studying Portuguese and learning Mozambican culture. Three times each week a Portuguese speaker comes to help them learn the language. The rest of their time is spent processing what they learned and trying it out on their neighbors.

"We are continuously learning that our ministry here and now does exist," Tim wrote, "it doesn’t start when we move to a village. God is teaching us so much … whittling away at our flesh, molding and tenderizing our hearts, opening our eyes, and drawing us into Him."

As God works in their lives they become a picture of Christ to the Mozambican people. They are building relationships with people and daily demonstrating the love of God.

Pray that Tim and Kat will learn the culture and language as they minister to those around them. Pray also that they will be a blessing wherever God chooses to use them.
