A CRY FOR TRUTH

Sometimes a good thing starts … and stops before it should.

In the case of the Gende people living in the mountains of Papua New Guinea, gospel workers had begun to live with them, learn their language and culture, and teach them God’s Word in their language. But before this young church could be fully established, life circumstances beyond anyone’s control took the missionaries away, and this young church found itself on unsure footing for years.

Today, there are 10-15 believers at most in a people group of over 20,000 spread out over a massive geographic area. And when Mark and Shelbi, and their teammates heard about this, they were asked to survey the area on foot and talk with the Gende people along the way.

What they found was a cry for truth, a plea for workers to come back to live among them and pick up the work where it left off. Today in 2025, Mark and Shelbi are preparing to move in among the Gende.
